Sierra Leone is a country in West Africa. It borders Guinea and Liberia and faces the Atlantic Ocean. Sierra Leone has a total area of 71,740 km2 . Freetown is the capital, largest city, and its economic and political centre. Temperatures and humidity are high with heavy rainfall. There are two distinct seasons, with the dry season lasting from December to March and the wet season lasting for the rest of the year. The main industries are agriculture, diamond mining, small- scale manufacturing, petroleum refining, and small-ship repair. The main exports are diamonds, rutile (a titanium mineral), cocoa, coffee, and fish. The main export-trading partners are China, Belgium, and Japan. The main imports are foodstuffs, machinery and equipment, fuels, lubricants, and chemicals. The main import-trading partners are China, India, South Africa the United States, and the United Kingdom. Krio language  is by far the most widely spoken language. English (the country's official language) is also widely spoken, particularly by the well educated. The official unit of currency is the Leone, consisting of 100 cents.
The International Office of Sierra Leone Maritime Administration (SLMARAD) operates and governs the registry in accordance with the Sierra Leone Merchant Shipping Act, 2003 and conducts vessels registration and seafarers certification with the aim to ensure safety of life at sea and protection of the marine environment in order for vessels under the registry to be fit for service for which are intended and are manned with competent marine personnel.
SLMARAD aims to improve and simplify the registration procedures which have been established to be easy to follow without the burden of documentation.
The Representative in Ukraine is officially appointed by Sierra Leone Maritime Administration in order to provide best and quick service on ships' and yachts’ registration under the flag of Sierra Leone as well as  to issue originals registration certificates and other necessary documents on the  day of registration.
The Representative of Sierra Leone Maritime Administration in Ukraine has full power and authority for  issuance of Certificate of Endorsement (COE) for the Officers and Engineers  serving on board of the Sierra Leone flagged vessels in accordance with the International Convention on Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1978 with Manila amendments in 1995.
Our Representative in Ukraine is authorized to issue the originals of bunker certificates (BCC 2001) in accordance with International Convention on Civil Liability for Bunker Oil Pollution, 2001 and CLC certificate in accordance with International Convention on Civil Liability for Oil Pollution Damage, 1992.
