     We kindly bring to your attention that according to the Resolution MSC.256(84) adopted on 16 May 2008, the following amendments to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea, 1974 were introduced: “Regulation 3-4. Emergency towing arrangements and procedures. Emergency towing procedures on ships. All cargo ships constructed  before 1 January 2010 shall be provided with a ship-specific emergency towing procedure. Such a procedure shall be carried aboard the ship for use in emergency situations and shall be based on existing arrangements and equipment available on board the ship”.

    Kindly pay your attention to the fact that this emergency towing procedure must be provided on board the ship not later than 1 January 2012 in order to avoid detention of your ship by port state authorities.
